I was very excited to find so many tatting blogs and forums online. I have finally signed up to ‘In Tatters’ forum and have looked at a few of the recent posts linked Via Facebook. Here is a link to a You-Tube video (no sound) that shows the basics of tatting and how to hold the thread so you can also ‘speed tatt’, making this process much faster.

There are many other amazing things I have learned from youtube, like how to do ‘split rings’. Split rings are a reasonably new ‘invention’. have a wide range of pre 1980’s tatting books, and these split rings (and patterns using them) do not appear before this time: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DfmcjYHBJr4
If you do want patterns using split rings, check out Jane Eborrall’s tatting blog, she has many patterns using split rings to make all sorts of cute projects (like the sea horses). There are some newer tatting books available (check local libraries), these often have jewelery patterns in them, and many smaller projects.
