Red and gold doily finished

I have finished the red and gold doily, and my sister in law loves it! I just need to block it before I post it to hopefully get there for her birthday. My initial uncertainty about the gold (altin basik 30) zig zag evaporated as the final red (milford 40) row pulled this lovely Ann Orr pattern together.  This is one of 2 vintage patterns I am really enjoying at moment.

This is a grand color combination! thank you, Fiona. I also have misgivings about golden thread, but I’ll try it .

    • Thanks TallyTatty, sometimes it is worth the experiment. I was happy to cut it out if it didn’t look good. I am really impressed with the colour combinations people are using on the Renulek Spring napkin, there are many I wouldn’t have tried that look lovely.

  2. Looks amazing! What do you like to do to block tatting?

    • As this has to travel through the mail I will probably use starch spray and iron the rings into place (under a hanky), especially on the zig zag. Otherwise I would just damp it and pin it out on a towel to dry in shape.
